So one, im taking some kinda writing class, and two, i own some kinda book shop Well my assignment is pretty simple. I need to write some poetry and get a picture that goes with it. I figure it'll be simple enough to take a picture of something and then write a poem about it. I'm walking to my book shop and outside I see this really tall guy, probably about 7 feet, beating up this short guy. This will come back later. Anyhoo, I'm at my book shop thinking of ideas when this thing that I think was a squirrel crawls in and immediately dies. I say "I think" because it wasn't completely recognizable since it was shredded up a good bit, with the front of its head completely red like its face had been ripped off (this was the most vivid part). Well, I take a photo of the corpse and start writing a poem about dead animals when the tall guy walks into the shop. As I'm writing, a fox also comes in. It immediately goes to the squirrel-thing's corpse and whines, and I figure it's grieving over the squirrel. I suddenly get the idea to write a poem about a squirrel and a fox being in love instead and decide to take a picture of the fox. I realize now, but didn't think of it at the time, but the squirrel-thing's corpse had disappeared by this point. I put my finger up to the fox so it can sniff me and start to trust me so it won't get spooked by the flash on my camera. The fox sniffs me and immediately perks up, so I figure it must be really easygoing, so I get my camera ready. I take the photo and look at it and immediately notice the area around the fox's eye is all ripped out, and it looks like the squirrel-thing's eye. To visualize it another way, it was like (in the photo) someone had tore out the part of the fox's face around its eye and the other thing's face was behind the skin. I turn to the tall guy, who's in the shop, and explain to him that he saw the fox come in and he saw me just take the picture so there's no way I could've edited it. He acknowledges this fact and i show him the photo. He has a similar surprised reaction. I, wanting to understand this, take another photo. This time, the strange disfigurement has extended to the other eye and down the fox's face, so now most of it was the squirrel-thing's face in the photo. I show the tall guy and he is disgusted by the graphic photo. As I said before, the squirrel's face was violently ripped up, which was what we were seeing on the fox's face in the photo. I start to think maybe the squirrel-thing is starting to possess the fox and that's what the transformation we're seeing is. The fox suddenly starts walking away and down an aisle in the book shop so the tall guy starts following it and I follow close behind. For some reason, the fox transformed into an infant as it got away, but then the fox/child and the tall guy walked back in as i was chasing them and looked up behind me, presumably at something big and shocking. I didn't want to stick around and find out what my brain had thought up so I forced myself awake. |
